July 2009::

30 years, Hmmmm. We are definitely old(er).

My daughter Carly is 10 and the light of my still made for prime time life. Her dad and I are divorced - him living in Ashland and us in Plymouth. Good arrangement. She is the typical child – loves the computer, Wii, Nintendo DS, fishing, books, her friends, her cats, throwing a perfect spiral… oh, and me.

5th grade will be both fun and a challenge (to me!). 4th grade math was NOT the 4th grade math I knew and loved, and I suspect it will be worse this year. I am not a math genius – I leave that to a few of my brothers. I hear school only gets harder…

I am still working for the same company since May of ’95. My company, Computer System Products, was sold 6 years ago and became APA Cables & Networks, and a year and a half ago we became Clearfield Inc. I am employed drawing production assemblies using AutoCAD and organizing thousands of ours and our customer’s drawings. My company specializes in connectivity solutions for high speed broadband applications. We design and manufacture fiber optic and copper cable products for the telecommunications industry and our market niche are the small utilities that are bringing high speed internet and cable to rural areas. If you know what that means, I will personally congratulate you!

My sister Mary, brother Robert, and Dad, still call Duluth home. I, unfortunately, do not.

2005:: Steve and I have been married for 10 years. He is still making dentures in our basement and getting back into the shape he should be in with a lot of biking.

A month before the 20-year reunion, I gave birth to our daughter, Carly, who is now 5 and my greatest joy. I am finally experiencing a happy childhood through her and doing all of that mother-daughter stuff that I never got to do (my mom died when I was 5).

I am still working with the same people for the last 9 years. After 9/11, I survived many, many lay offs, two pay cuts, a buy out, a merger, and a move. Now I have a boss that uses up his friendship minutes before 8am. But because this boss gets what he wants, I have had the opportunity to learn the design program Pro/Engineer, a 3d solid modeling program, which we use for designing fiber management boxes. Within the last couple of months, we have experienced something that hasn't happened in a few years... profit. What a wonderful word.

So, it's been 25 years!? I have lots of good memories to look back on. Whenever I drive into Duluth, I take a look towards Denfeld and think about all I've done and seen since June of '79.

For those of you who I know will want to know about my brother Dave, he is still the protective brother he's always been - married with 3 beautiful little girls.

I don't get to Duluth nearly enough in that my neuromuscular disease has gotten a little worse since the birth of my daughter, so my husband discourages me from driving north from the cities (with Carly). I still have family up here - my sister Mary, her family, and my dad; my step mother passed away in January.

I have taken up a hobby that I haven't had since I was much younger. Thanks to my sister for helping me buy it and to Kelly J for selling it! Sewing! My daughter is waiting for all of her costumes and doll clothes to be sewn.

Maybe I'll be seeing you in '09, but can't be certain! Have a good time at the 25th!

Chris
